In addition, Society of Cytologists and Geneticists awards two Merit Certificates during the conference for the best presentation.

“ DR. A.S. KHALATKAR MEMORIAL LECTURE”

This lecture was instituted by Prof. S.P.Langde, a student of Dr.A.S.Khalatkar in honour of his teacher Late Dr.A.S.Khalatkar, whose untimely death in an accident caused enormous loss to his students and colleages of Nagpur University.

At every conference of SCG, some special lectures will be arranged by inviting eminent scientists. One of the Invited special lectures to be delivered at every conference on Cytology and Genetics will be Dr. A.S. KHALATKAR MEMORIAL LECTURE. The scholar who delivers the lecture will be paid a token Honorarium of Rs. 1000/=. The lecture will be in the area of plant cytogenetics. The speaker will be decided by the President and Secretary of the Society.

Dr. S.G. Torne Best Paper Award

To encourage young scientists (Below 35 years) to publish their work in the Journal of Cytology and Genetics, Prof. G.B. Dixit, Department of Botany, Shivaji University, Kolhapur instituted a cash award of Rs.1000=00 ( Rs. One thousand only) at the XII All India Conference on Cytology and Genetics held at Kolhapur in December 22-24,2014 in honour of his teacher Dr.S.G.Torne (Plant Cytologist) for the best research paper published in “the Journal of Cytology and Genetics” in plant cytology. For this, a sum of Rs.15,000=00 (Rs.Fifteen thousand only) was contributed to the Society by the donor.
